Opengear designs and manufactures secure console server and remote control devices for in-band infrastructure management and out-of-band disaster recovery.
The company was founded late 2004 by a group of seasoned design engineers with extensive experience in the development of embedded Linux, security and communications appliances.
Opengear is locally owned and the key executive and technical resources are based in Brisbane.
Opengear's programmers and engineers undertake all the software and hardware R&D at the company's Toowong office, however the products "take form" and are delivered to customers elsewhere. The hardware products are manufactured by quality subcontractors in China, then shipped to Opengear's fulfilment facility in Utah USA where they are then configured and dispatched to customers. More than 80 per cent of these Opengear customers are located outside Australia.
