"Towards a Smarter Planet"
Abstract
We have been thinking for some time about how we can apply information technology to improve the efficiency of systems, both natural and man-made.
As the world is becoming more instrumented, there is a great opportunity to integrate data in real-time from a broad variety of sources, and to apply advanced analytics to gain deeper insight into these systems. This approach is being applied to improve traffic and transportation, food supply chains, the environment and even cities.
Nigel Poole
Nigel Poole is Executive Director of Commercial for CSIRO.
"CSIRO's Wireless LAN Success"
Abstract
CSIRO's commercialisation of the Wireless LAN technolgy. Nigle will cover the technology development, the legal process, the results, and the recently announced $150M Science and Technology endowment fund.
Dr. Takayuki Kawahara, Hitachi
Labs Japan
Dr. Kawahara of Hitachi Labs in Japan is a world-leading semiconductor researcher. A Fellow of the IEEE and Chair of the Far East COmmittee of the ISSCC conference
“Hitachi R&D for power efficient systems”
Abstract
R&D activities in Hitachi for highly power-efficient digital system are reviewed. Heterogeneous multi core with parallel processing for embedded systems. Program pattern based control of operating frequency and substrate voltage. NV-RAM system for normally-off function that enables digital equipment to be turned on instantly and resume the state prior to the interruption.
Who Should Attend?
Managers, technical staff and researchers from both Industry and Research. Anyone interested in the application of technologies to solve global problems like water, health, infrastructure, transport and telecommunications. These presentations will provide insight into global perspectives on addressing global problems with advanced technologies. We will cover visions for embedded "smarts" into everything, through negotiating IP issues and the value of patenting, and the state of the art microprocessors systems for embedded technologies.
