Chris Nicol and Graeme Robertson will facilitate a meeting to address the state of the Australian Microelectronics industry. There will be two presentations:
Australia at ISSCC – presentation by Dr. Takahuki Kawahara
Takayuki Kawahara is visiting Australia specifically to meet with the Australian microelectronics industry and to present the IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference. Dr Kawahara is head of the ISSCC Far Eastern committee and will showcase the conference and call for increased Australian participation. This is crucial to grow the awareness and international presence of Australian microelectronics industry and capability.
NICTA IC Design Incubation Centre – A proposal by NICTA/Cadence
The NICTA IC Design Incubation Centre is a proposal by NICTA for discussion with microelectronics industry partners. The first step for the centre is to make available low cost tools to Australian SMEs via an agreement with Cadence that delivers substantial saving s and benefits to SMEs undertaking IC design over the next 3 years. We will organise a facilitated discussion around the proposal, as well as ideas for other initiatives that can help deliver benefit to the microelectronics industry.
ESA Showcase 2009
This event will be followed by ESA's end-of-year event, "ESA Showcase 2009", at the same location, featuring:
- Dr. Glenn Wightwick, Director of IBM Australia development lab. “Towards a smarter planet”
- Nigel Poole, Executive Director Commercialisation, CSIRO. “CSIROs Wireless LAN success”.
- Dr. Takayuki Kawahara, Hitachi, “Hitachi R&D for the future”.
- Overview of ESA activities in 2009
