The organisation is a health care specialised centre, set up to test trial and demonstrate technologies for health care rather than development. The Centre has a fully simulated hospital to home environment, which is used routinely for education of clinical staff as well as testing and trialling for health services across Australia.

Centre staff have clinical and technical backgrounds and work with closely with a wide range of other clinicians to link them to researchers to ensure that technology designs fit clinical needs.
